The fifth issue of e-newsletter Czech Business Today of this year focuses on the European Commission proposal to revise the Posting of Workers Directive which, among other things, suggests the principle of “equal pay for equal work in the same place” and raised a very negative reaction from the Member States. On the first page, you can also find outputs of a debate focused on County Specific Recommendations to the Czech Republic that are part of the European semester. The debate took place on 15th June in the European House in Prague.
On the second page you can read an article dealing with the current relationship of the EU and China, concentrating especially on granting market economy status to China and its potential impact on the European economy. In a regular column of the European Economic and Social Committee, Vladimír Novotný, member of the employers group expresses his thoughts concerning the need for fair international trade.
