Invitation to a debate: Seal of Excellence

April 4, 2016 | 8:30 AM — 10:00 AM |  Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU | Past event

Let us invite you to a debate “Seal of Excellence” which will be held on the April 4th, 2016 from 8:30–10:00 (registration starts at 8:00) in the premisses of the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU (15, Rue Caroly, 1050 Brussels),

Since 2013, new rules governing investments under the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) call for a more strategic and synergetic use of different EU funds for a greater impact on growth and jobs. The European Commission launched in October 2015 a new initiative called “Seal of Excellence”. The scheme will allow to recognise at the national/regional level the quality label awarded to excellent project proposals submitted under Horizon 2020 and promote their access to different funding sources like ESIF and other national or regional funding programmes. First, as a pilot initiative, Seal of Excellence is being awarded under the SME Instrument of Horizon 2020.

The aim of this debate is to discuss national and regional schemes of Seal of Excellence and share the experience on creating synergies between Horizon 2020 and ESIF.

The debate will be opened by Mr. Martin Povejšil, Permanent Representative of the Czech Republic to the EU. Presentations of the distinguished speakers will follow:

  • Martina Dlabajová, Member of the European Parliament
  • Petr Očko, Director of the Financial instruments and Project management Dept., Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic
  • Magda de Carli, Deputy Head of Unit, Spreading of excellence and widening participation, DG RTD, European Commission
