Frederica Mogherini in Prague
The High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Frederica Mogherini visited Prague on 11th January to discuss EU foreign and security policy with Czech Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaorálek. She welcomed the candidature of Edita Hrdá, Czech diplomat who became a new Managing Director for Americas in EEAS.

SMEs in Czech Republic will obtain over €50 million from European Investment Fund
Komerční banka have signed an agreement with the European Investment Fund (EIF) within COSME programme that will allow Komerční banka to support more than 2,300 SMEs and microbusinesses in the Czech Republic by €50 million of loans over the next three years.

Central register of bank accounts
Czech Government approved a draft law on the Central register of bank accounts of natural and legal persons in order to fight against tax evasion. According to the Ministry of Finance, obtained information will help the financial authority to quickly respond on transfers of money obtained by fraud.

Retail sales rose by 5.9 % last year
According to the Czech Statistical Office the retail sales in the Czech Republic rose by 5.9 % during last year, which is the fastest pace of growth since 2008. The fastest growing component of retail sale was automotive fuel that grew by 8 %, followed by non-food sales.
