CZECH REPUBLIC HOPES TO INCREASE ITS COMPETITIVENESS
The Czech Republic wants to get onto the list of TOP 20 countries of the World Economic Forum’s Competitiveness Report by 2030. Although currently in 32nd position, the Czech Republic has solid macroeconomic performance, low inflation and high growth dynamics. The main bottlenecks are a slow pace of digitalisation and lengthy construction of transport infrastructure.

ACTION PLAN 2.0 FOR 5G
The Czech government has approved a new Action Plan that should facilitate and speed up the process of building high-speed electronic communication networks, including 5G. The plan should also encourage take-up of new trends like IoT, Industry 4.0 and Smart Cities.

NEW SUPPORT FOR SMES, START-UPS AND SPIN-OFFS
The Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade opened a first call for proposals for its new sub-programme called “Innovations in practice”, that will support introduction of innovations among SMEs, including start-ups and spin-offs. The budget of the call is 6.1 bn. CZK between 2020 and 2027. The sub-programme is part of a larger programme, called The Country for the Future.
